Medeama to Part Ways with Andy Kumi over poor performance
Medeama SC is set to terminate the contract of striker Francis Andy Kumi at the end of the current season.
The 24-year-old forward has underwhelmed since joining the club in August 2024 on a two-year deal.
Kumi’s performances have not met expectations, prompting the club’s hierarchy to exclude him from head coach Ibrahim Tanko’s long-term plans. He is among several high-profile players expected to depart Medeama at the end of the season.
Kumi had previously impressed in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, scoring nine goals for relegated Kotoku Royals. He has also played for Asante Kotoko, Bechem United, and Serbian clubs FK Radnički Niš and OFK Vršac.
The club’s decision to part ways with Kumi signals a major squad overhaul under newly-appointed coach Ibrahim Tanko. Medeama is looking to build a more competitive team for the 2025/26 season.
Kumi will likely seek new opportunities, either in the Ghana Premier League or abroad, to reignite his career.
His departure from Medeama marks the end of a chapter, but he remains determined to succeed in the world of football.
