Medeama SC delivered a dominant performance to secure a convincing 3-1 victory over Karela United at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa during Matchday 20 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The result further solidified their position as the team to beat, showcasing their attacking flair, defensive organization, and ability to control games at home.
The Mauve and Yellow got off to a strong start when right-back Kamaradini Mamudu opened the scoring early in the first half with a powerful header, putting his side ahead around the 18th minute. Karela United responded to level the score at some point, but Medeama quickly regained control. Derrick Fordjour restored their lead just before halftime with a well-taken goal that capitalized on their momentum and clinical finishing in the final third.
After the break, Mamudu sealed his superb brace and Medeama’s victory with another composed finish, completing a standout individual display from the overlapping full-back. His two goals highlighted his growing influence in attack from the right flank, adding a new dimension to Ibrahim Tanko’s tactical setup.
Under coach Ibrahim Tanko, Medeama produced yet another disciplined and purposeful performance, maintaining their impressive defensive record while being ruthless when opportunities arose. The win extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 17 matches — a testament to their consistency, team spirit, and ability to grind out results even under pressure in the title race.
With this victory, Medeama climbed to 43 points from 20 games, establishing an eight-point lead at the top of the table. Their closest pursuers, Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko, remained locked on 35 points each, leaving them with significant ground to cover in the remaining fixtures if they are to mount a serious challenge.
The performance against Karela United sent a clear message across the league: Medeama are in relentless pursuit of the Ghana Premier League title this season, combining tactical discipline, individual brilliance, and collective resilience to stay firmly in control of their destiny.
