Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed clear frustration with the attitude displayed by some of his players following the team’s latest setback in the Ghana Premier League.
The disappointment stems directly from a 2-1 home defeat to Hohoe United at the TNA Park in Tarkwa on March 8, 2026—a result that extended Medeama’s winless streak to five consecutive matches in the league.
This run, which represents the club’s worst patch of the 2025/26 campaign so far, has included a combination of draws and defeats that have tested the squad’s resilience during a critical phase of the season.
In his post-match comments, Tanko did not hold back on his concerns, highlighting that certain players’ approach and commitment fell short of expectations. He stressed the need for immediate introspection, announcing plans for an emergency meeting with the squad to openly address these issues, review recent performances, and refocus efforts ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Despite the evident irritation, the coach remains determined to steer the team back toward consistent winning form rather than allowing the dip to spiral further.
Even amid this challenging sequence—which has featured two losses within the last five outings—Medeama continue to occupy first place on the Ghana Premier League table. They sit on 46 points after 25 matches (12 wins, 10 draws, 3 losses), maintaining a narrow one-point advantage over second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars, who have accumulated 45 points.
With nine games remaining in the campaign, the title race has grown increasingly tight, as Medeama look to defend their championship credentials and fend off challengers closing the gap.
The unexpected home loss also marked the end of their unbeaten record at TNA Park this season, adding extra urgency to Tanko’s call for renewed focus and improved mentality from his group as they prepare for the demanding run-in.
