MATCH REPORT ON GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH WEEK 6 – WINS FOR HEARTS OF OAK AND ADUANA STARS
The Ghana premier league bounced back on match week 6 with exciting match ups. There were crucial wins for Accra Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars and Bechem United.
Below is a recap of happenings on match week 6.
On Saturday, Heart of Lions were held to a goalless draw at the Kpando Sports Stadium by debutant Vision FC. Both teams put up strong defensive performance. Ruben Hennessy was adjudged man of the match meanwhile Accra Lions recorded a 1-1 draw against Coach Samuel Boadu’s Berekum Chelsea. Stephen Amankona canceled Ali Mohammed’s 57th minute opener after two minutes. Controlling a cross from a free kick, the winger home from inside the box. Berekum Chelsea had the best chance to record a win but goalkeeper David Afful denied Mezack Afriyie.
On Sunday, Aduana Stars recorded their first win of the season with a 2-0 win over Dreams FC. The Ogya boys put up a strong performance at Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Striker Emmanuel Marfo and defender Abubakar Adams scored in both halves to secure Aduana’s first win of the season. Bechem United eased pass Medeama Sporting club with a 2-0 win thanks to Dalvin Yeboah and Emmanuel Abban.
At the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nations FC drew against Bibiani GoldStars. Faisal Charwetey’s opener for the host was cancelled by Kelvin Oppong’s 80th minute strike. Goalkeeper Kofi Mensah had to make a couple of saves to keep Nations FC in the game during the second half. Elsewhere Basake Holy Stars recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Karela United. Prince Opoku’s scored late on in the game to secure a hard fought win for the home side who ended the game with 10 men.
Samartex versus Nsoatreman FC was postponed due to a heavy down pour. The match is scheduled today at exactly 10am. Legon Cities versus Asante Kotoko will be played on a chosen date.
Bibiani GoldStars are now top of the league log with 12 points from 6 matches. In second place is Asante Kotoko with 11 points. Hearts of Oak are 8th with 8 points.
