A devastating road accident occurred on Tuesday morning on the Sawla-Wa highway at Danuwuri, resulting in multiple injuries to passengers on board a Yutong OA bus and a mini bus. The collision happened when the OA bus, registered as AS 244-19, was traveling from Accra to Wa, while the mini bus was heading in the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the OA bus attempted to navigate through the numerous potholes on the highway but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off its lane and collide with the oncoming mini bus. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving many passengers with varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency responders quickly rushed to the scene, and the injured passengers were transported to the Sawla District Hospital for medical treatment. The accident has raised concerns about the deplorable state of the highway, which is plagued by potholes and other hazards that pose a significant risk to road users.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for urgent attention to be paid to the country’s road infrastructure, particularly on highways that connect major towns and cities. It also highlights the importance of defensive driving and the need for motorists to exercise extreme caution when navigating through hazardous road conditions.
