Ghanaian musician and producer Crazy Keys has claimed that many Ghanaians do not uphold professionalism in creative work in his recent interview on Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee.
The outspoken artist did not hold back as he criticized the lack of professionalism among many players in Ghana’s creative industry, stating that it is a major setback to growth and international recognition.
Speaking passionately on the show, Crazy Keys lamented how lateness, no respect , unfulfilled commitments, and a lack of structured business practices continue to plague the industry.
“We have the talent, we have the ideas, but our approach to work is a big problem. This is why we struggle to compete with industries like Nigeria and South Africa.”
Ghanaian creatives do not take their craft seriously, others believe that the challenges are more systemic and not just about individual professionalism.
Crazy Keys further emphasized that for Ghanaian music, film, and arts to make significant global waves, there needs to be a mindset shift.
“If we want to be respected internationally, we must first respect ourselves and our work. It’s not just about the talent; it’s about the work ethic.”
“Outside there, things are done professionally. Those working around artists respect their craft and ensure everything is done right to make the artist comfortable. But in our part of the world, Africa, when you try to do things the right way, people get offended. We embrace mediocrity, and that’s why we struggle to reach the top.”
