Manuel Neuer Announces Retirement From International Football

German International goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has announced his retirement from international football.

The 38-year-old Bayern Munich goalkeeper made his international debut in 2009 and featured in eight major tournaments. Manuel Neuer helped Germany to win the 2014 World Cup also won the golden glove for the tournament’s best keeper.

The decision marks the end of an illustrious chapter in the history of German football and the end of an era for one of the sport’s most celebrated goalkeepers.

Goalkeeper Neuer made the announcement through a heartfelt message shared on social media, expressing his gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career.

“After much reflection, I have decided that now is the right time for me to step away from international duty, It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for every moment I spent wearing the national jersey.”- he wrote

Germany’s national football federation (DFB) paid tribute to Neuer, calling him one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.

“All words seem too small. But they come from the heart: Thank you, Manu,”

Throughout his international career, Neuer accumulated 123 caps for Germany, solidifying his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation. His innovative playing style, characterized by his “sweeper-keeper” role, redefined modern goalkeeping and set new standards for the position.
