MANCHESTER CITY SWEAT OVER RODRI’S INJURY

Manchester City will have to do it without a key cog in midfield Rodri in their bid to win an unprecedented fifth league trophy.

The Spaniard has been ruled out till the remainder of the season due to an anterior cruciate injury he suffered against Arsenal over the weekend.

The 28-year-old has since travelled to Spain on Monday for surgery. The Defending Champions have not lost in the last 48 premier league matches in which the Spaniard has started.

His absence would have a big say on Manchester City’s chances of winning the Premier League this season. Since arriving from Athletico Madrid, Rodri’s influence has been palpable, with City having lost just 11% of their games with him in the side compared to 24% without him.

Manchester City are reported to be interested in fellow Spaniard Martin Zubimendi as they look to mitigate the effect of Rodri’s absence.
