A 37-year old man, Sulemana Gibril, (believed to be the main suspect) and six other accomplices are in the grip of the police for allegedly murdering the lover of Gibril’s ex-girlfriend.
Although the police do not have any concrete evidence linking him to the murder of 35-year old David Gyamfi, the police suspect him to be behind the dastardly act due to a threat he was alleged to have issued to the ex-girlfriend, Mercy Osei, when he visited them on the night of the incident.
The police have also picked up six other suspects in connection with the case.
Investigations
The Tafo-Pankrono District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Kwaku Amoako, said the suspect was currently in their custody assisting in investigations.
He also confirmed the arrest of six other suspects the police had picked up for further investigation.
He, however, declined to identify them as investigations were still ongoing.
Supt Amoako said Gibril, who is the main suspect at the moment, was arrested at Atafua, near Asuofia, both suburbs of Kumasi, on Monday.
The deceased was alleged to have been stabbed and left to bleed to death. His body has since been deposited at the Tafo Government Hospital.
According to the police, Gibril had denied any involvement in the death of Gyamfi.
Gibril and Mercy are said to have been in a relationship which produced two children but that relationship fell on rocks.
The two went their separate ways and found new lovers.
