The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has issued a strong response following a violent clash between NPP and NDC supporters during a health walk at Mamobi.
Speaking on the Ahoto morning show Adekyee Mu Nsem, Mr. Gbande disclosed that the individuals responsible for the disturbance have been identified and that efforts are underway to apprehend them.
In his remarks, Mr. Gbande specifically pointed of a man named Aziz and his group as the culprits behind the shooting, accusing them of disrupting the NDC event.
He described the firearms used as “robbery guns,” emphasizing that these individuals were not trained service personnel or officers of any rank.
In a more alarming revelation, Gbande accused the NPP government of irresponsibly distributing over 5,000 pistols, originally procured by the NDC for national security purposes, to its party loyalists. He condemned this practice, blaming it for empowering violent groups like the one involved in the Mamobi incident.
Gbande warned that the NDC would not rely on the police to handle the matter, hinting that they would take matters into their own hands.
He reassured his party members to protect themselves and vowed that Aziz and his accomplices would be treated as armed robbers, promising swift action to bring them to justice.
