The Director of Elections and Information Technology of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, has explained the processes prospective aspirants are expected to follow as the party prepares to open nominations for its upcoming internal elections.
According to him, all payments associated with the nomination process, including filing fees and applicable dues, will be made electronically through the party’s online platform.
Speaking on Yepe Ahunu on Ahotor FM on Saturday, September 12, 2026, Mahdi Jibril said the online nomination system has been introduced to make the process more accessible and convenient for party members across the country.
He explained that the window for picking nomination forms will open on September 15 and close at 5:00 p.m. on September 17, 2026.
However, he clarified that the period for completing the filing process will run until September 23, giving aspirants additional time to pay their filing fees and submit the required documents.
Mahdi Jibril said prospective aspirants do not necessarily have to be physically present at their constituency office to pick a nomination form.
He explained that an aspirant can use a mobile phone to access the online platform, enter the required information and follow the prompts to complete the process.
According to him, applicants will require details including their party ID, voter ID, and the details of their proposer and seconder.
He added that even where an aspirant does not immediately have all the details of the proposer and seconder, the person can begin the process by picking the nomination form and subsequently complete the remaining requirements.
Mahdi Jibril further explained that once an aspirant successfully files the nomination, a confirmation message will be sent to the applicant’s phone.
The aspirant can then print the relevant Form A, while Form B is to be submitted physically at the constituency office as part of the filing process.
He stressed that the online arrangement is designed to ensure that prospective aspirants are not disadvantaged because of their location.
He cited situations where an aspirant could be outside the constituency, travelling, at work or even at a hospital, explaining that such a person could still use a mobile phone to pick the nomination form.
Mahdi Jibril therefore encouraged prospective aspirants to take advantage of the opportunity and avoid waiting until the final hours of the nomination period.
He said the most important thing is for aspirants to ensure that they file their forms within the stipulated period.
The NDC Director of Elections and IT also disclosed that a call centre has been established to provide assistance to applicants who encounter challenges with the online system.
He described the call centre as a backup mechanism primarily intended to assist applicants with the picking and filing of nomination forms.
He directed prospective aspirants to the party’s online nomination platform, forms.ghanandc.com, and urged them to follow the prompts provided.
He further clarified that the September 17 deadline applies to picking nomination forms, while the filing process remains open until September 23.
Mahdi Jibril urged party members to rely on official information from the NDC concerning the nomination process and cautioned against depending on unverified information circulating on social media.
