A former NDC Eastern Regional Chairman, Bismark Tawaih Boateng, has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, describing it as a product of the political mentorship and experience he gained from former presidents Jerry John Rawlings and Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
According to him, the leadership qualities, teamwork, and political experience President Mahama acquired from the two former leaders have contributed to his approach to national development.
Mr. Boateng made the remarks on the Simpieso political talk show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Emmanuel Matey, popularly known as Alaska De Don.
He said President Mahama’s development agenda is gradually taking shape across the country, citing initiatives such as the “Big Push” programme, the Kumasi Expressway, and the government’s proposed 24-hour economy.
He argued that describing the “Big Push” programme and the Kumasi Expressway as white-elephant projects is misleading, insisting that such projects are intended to open up the country, improve productivity, and create opportunities for businesses across the country.
Mr. Boateng further expressed the view that President Mahama and his team have demonstrated what he described as a strong spirit of teamwork by prioritising national development and working to improve various sectors of the economy.
He said the return of the NDC to government has given many party supporters renewed confidence in the government’s development agenda.
On party organisation, Mr. Boateng called on government appointees and party members to put the interests of the NDC and the country ahead of individual considerations.
He urged party members to focus on supporting the government’s development agenda rather than engaging in activities that could undermine the party.
Speaking about his political ambitions, the former regional chairman indicated his readiness to return to the leadership of the NDC in the Eastern Region. He stressed the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and ensuring that party members are treated fairly.
According to him, the grassroots remain the foundation of the party, and their welfare and interests must be prioritised.
He therefore called for greater unity, hard work, and commitment among party members, stressing that protecting the interests and welfare of the party should remain a shared responsibility.
Mr. Boateng maintained that a united and committed party structure would be essential to strengthening the NDC’s presence and organisation in the Eastern Region
