A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team, Hamza Suhuyini, has expressed confidence in the leadership of His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting his unwavering commitment to addressing national challenges, just as he did in the past with the energy crisis, popularly known as ‘dumsor’.
Reflecting on the period when President Mahama was at the forefront of resolving the energy crisis, Suhuyini acknowledged that many political operatives, including himself, questioned Mahama’s approach.
“I remember clearly, the questions we were asking back then. We thought he was too gentle, too calm, and that he needed to be tough. These were the very adjectives we used to describe his effort in solving dumsor, only to wake up one morning and realize the massive investment he had made,” he stated.
According to Suhuyini, despite the criticism, President Mahama remained steadfast in his mission to end dumsor, consistently responding that he wanted to bring the crisis to an end.
The results were evident when the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office and their primary concern became how to manage the excess power capacity.
“In the past, we did not have the luxury of excess capacity. Today, we do, thanks to President Mahama’s foresight and investment,” he added.
He emphasized the urgency of the issue but cautioned against disregarding the economic challenges inherited from the previous administration.
“From 2022, the country was at a standstill. It is not accurate to create the impression that when the NPP left office, the NDC suddenly took over illegal mining. This government is responsive, and we appreciate the urgent call for action by Ghanaians,” he noted.
Suhuyini reassured the public that under the leadership of President Mahama and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, the government will not succumb to political pressure but will instead demonstrate strong leadership in addressing the galamsey crisis.
“With President Mahama at the helm, we are confident that his administration will take decisive action, just as he did with dumsor. His responsibility is not just to react to our emotions but to lead with vision and purpose,” he concluded.
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team, Hamza Suhuyini, urged patience and trust in the leadership of President Mahama, emphasizing that sustainable solutions require strategic planning and execution.
