Mahama will shine like a star at Kumasi’s unity walk tomorrow – Brogya Genfi

The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ,Mr. Yaw Brogya Genfi has described Former President John Dramani Mahama a “Shining Star” who is due to appear in Kumasi tomorrow for the party’s unity walk.

“Asanteman is calling John Mahama to come back. He is coming like a “star that appears at night glittering”.

“I urge people of Asanteman to join us this Saturday at our unity walk in the Ashanti Region. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will appear with his shining star in the Region this Saturday”. He disclosed.

According to Brogya Genfi, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government has deceived Ghanaians hence there is the need for John Dramani to come back and redeem his people.

The NDC is organising the party’s Ashanti Region edition of Unity Walk this Saturday.

The Unity Walk has sparked lot of controversies both in the party and the public since some prominent leaders have exempted themselves from participating.

Though several political analysts have said the walk is intended to market John Mahama come back as the flag bearer of the party, some chairmen at the regional and constituency level have denied the claims.

NDC Unity walks just for fun

But a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPS), Professor Joshua Alabi who is readying himself to contest the presidential primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as flagbearer, has downplayed the effect of the party’s unity walks.

He described the exercise as fun indicating that twice he attended the events in Accra and Cape Coast respectively but it was just to have fun.

Leaders of the NDC have consistently stated that the unity walks are part of processes recommended by the 13-member Kwesi Botchwey Committee to unite the party following fallouts from the 2016 elections.

But the flagbearer hopeful in an interview sought to suggest that the unity walks are exercises in futility as he was quoted as saying:” I was in the Accra and Cape Coast one. It was fun, I enjoyed it… good exercise. We were walking, there was a brass band and we enjoyed it”
