National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has vowed to address the challenges facing Ghanaian fishermen, particularly the shortage of premix fuel, if elected in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at a mini rally in Edina during his Central Regional tour, Mr. Mahama acknowledged that the fishing community has struggled since the NDC left power, with conditions steadily worsening under the current administration.
He promised to reinstate the supportive policies that the NDC had previously implemented to improve the livelihoods of fishermen and ensure sustainable fishing practices.
One key measure John Mahama highlighted was the re-establishment of the Landing Beach Committees, which previously helped manage the distribution of premix fuel.
He assured the fishermen that these committees would prevent partisan influence over fuel distribution, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Confident of the NDC’s victory in the upcoming election, Mr. Mahama pledged to introduce a range of policies designed to benefit fishing communities and strengthen their role in the economy.
He urged Ghanaians to reject the “empty promises” of the NPP and vote for a government committed to real change and development.
“Let’s make way for an NDC government that will reset the country and bring tangible solutions to our communities,” he concluded.
