Mahama Vows to Complete Abandoned Abetifi District Hospital Under NDC

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to complete the abandoned Abetifi District Hospital if elected.

The over 200-bed facility, initiated under the previous NDC administration, was halted when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power, leaving the project in limbo.

Addressing a mini rally at Kwahu Tafo during his Eastern Regional tour, Mr. Mahama expressed disappointment over the abandonment of the vital healthcare project.

He criticized the wasteful practice of shelving taxpayer-funded initiatives simply because a new government takes over.

“The last time I visited the site of the Abetifi District Hospital, I was heartbroken. How can we do this to ourselves? Taxpayer money was invested in this project, and yet a new government decides to abandon it. This must be the last time such a thing happens in Ghana,” he lamented.

Mr. Mahama assured residents that an NDC government would prioritize the completion of the hospital.

He promised to secure funds, regardless of the challenges, to ensure the facility becomes operational and serves the people of Abetifi and surrounding areas.

“Don’t worry, the NDC is winning this election, and we will find the money—wherever we can—to complete the abandoned Abetifi District Hospital,” he declared confidently.

He further explained that the hospital was designed to be a referral centre for health facilities across the region, playing a crucial role in improving access to quality healthcare.

Mr. Mahama’s commitment to reviving the project was met with enthusiasm from the crowd, who expressed hope for the hospital’s completion under his leadership.
