Mahama urges African leaders to seek divine guidance and wisdom

The former president and flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Mahama has stated that leadership is a sacred trust and African leaders must seek divine Guidance and Wisdom.

According to him, there is the need for a constant reminder of the significance of leaders being connected to a higher purpose and seeking the counsel of God in our leadership endeavours.

He believes leaders led by God are more likely to embody values such humility, empathy and integrity, which are essential for effective leadership.
Speaking as the chairman for the occasion launch of the ‘The Arts of leading: unconventional Wisdom from Biblical leaders’ by the former president Olusegun Obasanjo in Nigeria, Mr Mahama said ” Leadership is a sacred trust, and leaders must seek divine Guidance and wisdom as they make decisions that affect tte lives of many people.

The Biblical stories in this book should serve as a powerful reminder of the significance of leaders being connected to a higher purpose and seeking the counsel of God in our leadership endeavor. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, it’s easy for leaders to become overwhelmed by the demands of their roles”.

He added when leaders are rooted in their faith and walk in the steps of God, they find strength, clarity and direction in their decision-making.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, leaders led by God are more likely to to embody values such as humility, empathy and integrity which are essential for effective leadership. By embracing these values, leaders can create an environment of trust, collaboration and respect, ultimately leading to the success and well-being of those they lead. I hope that ‘The Arts of leading’ will inspire leaders from all walks of life to embrace the unconventional wisdom of the biblical leaders and incorporate it into our leadership approach”, he added.
