Speaking during a Fellowship and Thanksgiving Service with the clergy, Mahama disclosed that consultations have been held with the Speaker of Parliament to advance the bill, which seeks to reinforce traditional family structures. He stressed that under his leadership, marriage in Ghana would remain strictly defined as a union between a man and a woman, reflecting the nation’s deeply rooted cultural and religious principles.
The service, held as part of efforts to declare a National Day of Prayer, aimed to reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to placing God at the centre of national governance. Mahama explained that this initiative seeks to ensure that policymaking at all levels is guided by faith, moral integrity, and a sense of divine purpose.
