Mahama Announces Ghana Labour Export Program to Boost Employment Opportunities Abroad

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the launch of the Ghana Labour Export Program, a strategic initiative aimed at providing skilled Ghanaian workers with opportunities to work abroad for a specified period.

This move is expected to create employment, enhance skills development, and increase foreign remittances to boost the national economy.

Speaking during a New Year interaction with members of the diplomatic corps at the Jubilee House, Mahama revealed that his government is in the final stages of securing bilateral labour agreements with key international partners.

These agreements, he emphasized, will ensure the protection of Ghanaian migrant workers, promote ethical recruitment practices, and safeguard the rights of employees working in foreign countries.

The Ghana Labour Export Program is expected to target industries facing labour shortages globally, such as healthcare, construction, and engineering.

The government is also working closely with relevant agencies to provide pre-departure training, ensuring that workers are well-prepared for their roles abroad.
