Mahama accuses Akufo-Addo of arming vigilantes (audio)

The flag-bearer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes the ruling regime is encouraging young men into armed robbery.

According to John Mahama, the Akufo-Addo led government has given guns meant for the security agencies to party vigilantes who use them for weekend robberies.

He said, it is a common occurrence to see these vigilantes in bullet-proof attire whiles the police who are to ensure security of the ordinary Ghanaian is left without any means for their functions.

Mr Mahama was addressing a mini rally of chiefs and people of Adjei-Kojo and Kanewu in the Tema West Constituency as part of his 5 day tour of the Greater Accra region,

Mr Mahama was pessimistic of the deteriorated economy he would inherit from the Nana Addo government taking into consideration the current devastated economy.

According to him most of the funds created to cushion or support the economy in times of disaster has been misappropriated by the Nana Addo’s government.

He noted that, he left enough verifiable funds and wondered how much he (John Mahama) would receive.
