Legon Cities Part Ways With Head Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin On Boxing Day Eve

Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin becomes fifth manager to lose job in the ongoing campaign.

Legon Cities have on Wednesday night parted ways with head coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin, 65, AhotorSports understands.

The move by the two parties followed a horror performance into the 2024/2025 Premier League season where they have accumulated eleven points from fourteen games, managing just three wins which included a 2-1 home win against Asante Kotoko last October.

The Accra based club has a winning rate of 21% and are at the very bottom on the league table.

The former Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars, Asante Kotoko gaffer was appointed in 2023 on a two-year deal and managed to steer the team away from relegation last season.

However, nothing much has changed as the club has been struggling this season and swimming in the relegation pool.

Much of the problems facing the once ‘money bag’ club is reportedly said to be financial limitation for quality recruitments and motivation.

According to reports sighted by AhotorSports, the former Ghana U-17 Men’s team coach had been considering tendering his resignation over poor run of performances and lack of motivation in the team.

The Tarkwa born coach is the fifth casualty to part ways with his club in the ongoing season after Aduana, Samartex, Young Apostles and Medeama SC all separating unions with their head coaches even before the first half of the season ends.

Legon Cities will look to appoint a new manager for a quick fix immediately to start the operation of surviving relegation.

They face Aduana Stars at home at 15:00GMT of the Ghana Premier League Match Day 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium on  Boxing Day before meeting Accra Hearts of Oak on January 3, 2025.
