LEGAL SHOWDOWN : Court sets date for hearing of Pollack’s claims against Asante Kotoko

Former Kumasi Asante head coach Steve Pollack has threatened to take the club to court if issues pertaining to his compensation are not resolved.

The Finnish was involved in an accident alongside the Kotoko team at Nkawkaw on the Accra – Kumasi highway after a Ghana Premier League game defeat to Inter Allies in Tema.

Asante Kotoko lost then Equipment Officer Mr Thomas Obeng Asare whiles players, staff and technical team members were  severely injured including Pollack.

Three years since the unfortunate incident, the former coach has alleged that he has not been duly compensated and is ready for a legal showdown with the club.

“The last few months we have been on pre trial to see if we can settle the matter and if not then we go to court,so we had the first pre trial and the lawyer for Kotoko didn’t turn up.On the second pre trial,a representative from the board came and he said the board was having a meeting and the compensation for the accident victims was on the agenda.”

“On the last day of the pretrial this same board member came and said they have a board meeting and we are waiting for a report from the committee to address the issue but the judge said he’s had enough of that so we should move to court.”

The hearing is scheduled for the middle of May(17th May 2021).

“A few letters have been sent to the club over the last two years and the reply has always been the same.It doesn’t matter which administration is there,it has always been the same answer and nothing comes out of it.”
“For the new administration,we have given them time and nothing comes from it so it’s going to court.”
“Why would I forget it and move on when I am still having health issues. It does not make sense,I am still having physical and mental issues, he told Ahotor FM sports.

Asante Kotoko parted ways with Steve Pollack in February 2018 after their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.
