MP for Tema West, Lawyer James Enu, has expressed his support for the Attorney General’s decision to discontinue certain cases.
According to Enu, the Attorney General has the right to drop any case without providing reasons, highlighting the importance of prosecutorial discretion in the justice system.
Hon. Lawyer James Enu believes that criminal trials should not exceed eight years, emphasizing the need for efficient justice. He suggests that cases which drag on for extended periods may be indicative of inadequate evidence or flawed prosecution. Enu attributes the discontinuation of certain cases to their politically motivated nature, lacking sufficient evidence to support prosecution.
One notable case Lawyer Enu highlighted was that of Hon. Ofosu Ampofo, which he claims lacked concrete evidence for prosecution. Enu is pleased that the Attorney General has discontinued such “frivolous cases,” demonstrating his commitment to upholding justice and avoiding unnecessary legal battles.
Mr. James Enu made the assertions on Ahotor 92.3fm with Citizen Kofi Owusu, on Adekye Mu Nsem.
