Lawrence Ati-Zigi Hails Harmonious Relationship with Benjamin Asare and Ghana Keepers

Lawrence Ati-Zigi has spoken glowingly about the camaraderie and professional harmony within Ghana’s goalkeeping unit, emphasizing the strong working relationship he shares with Benjamin Asare and the other keepers in the Black Stars camp.

The St. Gallen shot-stopper, who played a key role in Ghana’s group-stage campaign at the 2026 World Cup before a groin injury forced him out, dismissed any notion of rivalry or division among the goalkeepers. Instead, he highlighted how the group came together under goalkeeping coach Richard Kingson to build a cohesive and supportive department focused on collective improvement rather than individual competition.

“Myself, Benjamin Asare and the other goalkeepers have a nice relationship,” Ati-Zigi said. “It was about building a good goalkeeping unit.” This unity proved vital during the tournament, where Asare seamlessly stepped in and delivered impressive performances, including a clean sheet against England, helping the team advance from a challenging group before their eventual exit.

By publicly praising this bond, Ati-Zigi has reinforced the idea of a united front in the Black Stars’ backroom, countering any external narratives suggesting tension and underscoring the maturity and teamwork that define the current generation of Ghanaian goalkeepers.
