Following the provisions outlined in Article 42.f of the FC Barcelona Statutes, Joan Laporta has formally resigned from his role as president of the club.
This step was necessary to make him eligible to stand as a candidate in the upcoming elections for the Board of Directors, scheduled to take place on March 15. The resignation became official during the ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors held this Monday, the same session in which the club officially published the call for these elections.
In addition to Laporta, a number of other members from the current board have also stepped down from their positions so that they can participate in the electoral process.
Among those who submitted their resignations are Elena Fort, who served as vice-president for the Institutional Area; Rafael Escudero, vice-president for the Social Area; and several board members including Ferran Oliver, Josep Maria Albert, Xavier Barbany, Miquel Camps, Aureli Mas, Xavier Puig, and Joan Soler i Ferré.

With these resignations now formalized, the Board of Directors will continue to fulfill its responsibilities until the conclusion of the current term, which is set to end on June 30.
However, the governing body will operate under a reconfigured structure in the interim period. Until the end of this term, the club’s highest authority will consist of Rafael Yuste serving as president, Josep Cubells acting as vice-president and secretary, Alfons Castro as treasurer, along with board members Josep Ignasi Macià, Àngel Riudalbas, Joan Solé i Sust, and Sisco Pujol.
Once the resignations and the new composition were confirmed, the restructured Board of Directors proceeded to continue the meeting according to the previously established agenda.
This transition marks the official start of the electoral campaign, allowing Laporta and his allies to pursue re-election while the club maintains continuity in its leadership until the vote takes place and the new term begins.
