Lack Of Proper Planning Caused Our Defeat – George Akwasi Afriyie Laments
Former Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, George Akwasi Afriyie, has attributed Ghana’s 2-0 defeat against Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 Afcon qualifiers to lack of proper planning.
In his remarks following the disappointing loss, George Afriyie expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of strategic foresight and proper preparation by the technical team and the management committee after Sudan first leg encounter and before the second leg clash .
George Afriyie emphasized that the Black Stars’ defeat was largely due to the players’ discomfort playing on the AstroTurf at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya which the Sudanese are used to.
Afriyie emphasized that Sudan, though not traditionally considered a football powerhouse, took advantage of Ghana’s disorganization and lack of tactical discipline. He called for a more systematic approach to team management, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ensure that comprehensive planning is undertaken ahead of the next two Afcon games .
Ghana Black Stars now faces a crucial challenges , needed to secure victories in their last two qualifying games against Angola and Niger in November 2024 whiles praying that Sudan will lose all their two remaining games .
