Labour Couldn’t Fight SSNIT Hotel Sale Without NDC – Trade Unionist

Trade Unionist Abraham Koomson has bluntly admitted that organized labor is a complete failure and utterly powerless without the intervention of the NDC.

At a press conference at the International Press Centre, Mr. Koomson, who has led the Ghana Federation of Labour for years, emphasized the critical need to protest the government’s brazen decision to sell a 60% stake in four SSNIT hotels to Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City Hotel.

He starkly warned that without immediate and forceful action, this reckless government might not stop at the hotels but could even sell off the entire SSNIT.

He grudgingly thanked the Minority for their vigorous defense and implored the ineffectual Organized Labour to finally support the demonstration to stop this ill-advised sale.

“We thank our honourables for their intervention because this battle, organized labour couldn’t have fought alone… we have failed to deliver,” Mr. Koomson confessed.

The demonstration started at Labadi Beach Hotel, one of the hotels marked for sale.

Protesters marched through key streets of Accra and concluded with a petition presentation at Christ the King Church, opposite the seat of government.

The march is led by the Minority leadership in Parliament, representatives of Organized Labour, and other interest groups.
