Former Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah has signed a three-year contract extension as head coach of the Sudan national team, the Sudanese Football Association announced.
The new deal will keep Appiah at the helm until 2028, rewarding his progress since taking charge in September 2023.
Appiah’s mandate has focused on rebuilding the national side, and he has made notable impact. Under his leadership, Sudan secured qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking their return to the tournament.
Notably, Sudan defeated Ghana during the qualifying campaign, boosting the team’s confidence.
Sudan has been drawn in Group E for the 2025 AFCON, facing Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso. The tournament kicks off on December 21, 2025, and runs until January 18, 2026.
Appiah, who previously led Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and had a second spell as Ghana coach from 2017 to 2019, continues to build a promising coaching chapter abroad.
