Kwame Poku’s Late Strike Ends Kotoko’s Winless Run with Victory Over Dreams FC

In a tightly contested Ghana Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kwame Poku delivered the decisive blow with a close-range finish in the 79th minute, handing Asante Kotoko a hard-fought victory over Dreams FC.

The goal not only sealed the three points for the Porcupine Warriors but also provided a much-needed breakthrough in a match that had been brimming with tension and missed opportunities.

The game was characterized by an abundance of goal-scoring chances for both teams, particularly during a frenetic first half where attacks flowed end-to-end.

However, neither side could find the clinical touch required to convert these openings, leading to growing frustration among the fans in the stands and the coaches on the touchlines, who urged their players to capitalize on the momentum.

The most memorable moment of the half came in the 16th minute when Dreams FC’s Jonathan Nemorden skillfully rounded Kotoko’s defense and goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, only to drag his shot narrowly wide of the post—an glaring miss that many observers later dubbed as potentially the miss of the season.

This crucial win brought an end to Kotoko’s disappointing four-game winless streak in the Premier League, offering relief to head coach Karim Zito and the supporters.

The result propelled Zito’s team up to third place in the league standings with 24 points, keeping their title aspirations alive as they look ahead to another challenging fixture against struggling Eleven Wonders next weekend at the Legon Stadium in Accra.

For Dreams FC, the defeat deepened their woes, pushing them further into the relegation zone with a meager 14 points.

Under coach Winfred Dormon, the Still Believe side will need to regroup quickly as they prepare to host Berekum Chelsea in their next outing, hoping to arrest their slide and climb away from danger.
