Kwame Opoku: Asante Kotoko Must Win Silverware This Season
Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has emphasized that the club must end the current season with a trophy, highlighting the team’s determination to avoid a barren campaign.
Opoku’s comments follow a standout performance in which he scored twice and registered an assist in Kotoko’s 4-1 win over Dreams FC.
The win has brought Kotoko within three points of league leaders Nations FC, intensifying the title race with just three matches remaining.
Opoku’s resurgence in form has been timely, with the 24-year-old forward scoring 10 goals across all competitions since his return to the club in December 2024.
Opoku stressed that Kotoko is determined to win the FA Cup, saying, “We can’t go trophyless this season… We are hoping that by the end of the season, we’ll lift a trophy.”
The team will face Golden Kick in the FA Cup final on June 15.
Asante Kotoko currently sits fourth in the league with 54 points. With the FA Cup final looming, Opoku’s words underscore the team’s focus on securing silverware and bringing pride to Kumasi.
