Kudus Scores First Champions League Goal as Tottenham Brush Aside Slavia Prague 3-0

Mohammed Kudus opened his Champions League account for Tottenham Hotspur with a confidently taken penalty in the 50th minute, helping his side cruise to a 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 9, 2025.

The result lifted Spurs to ninth in the league phase with 11 points and kept alive their chances of securing a direct last-16 place. The night began brightly when an own goal from Slavia defender David Zima, under pressure from Cristian Romero, gave Tottenham the lead in the 26th minute.

Pedro Porro’s corner was flicked on by Romero and Zima could only head past his own goalkeeper, marking Tottenham’s 100th goal in the competition’s history.

Slavia offered occasional threat on the break, but their resistance ended five minutes into the second half. Porro burst into the box and was clipped by Youssoupha Sanyang’s arm, leaving the referee with little choice after a swift VAR check.

Kudus grabbed the ball, waited for the whistle, and calmly rolled the penalty straight down the middle while Jindřich Staněk dived to his left.

The Ghanaian sprinted away in celebration, wheeling toward the Park Lane end as the stadium roared and former captain Son Heung-min leapt from his seat in the stands.

The game was wrapped up eleven minutes from time when Xavi Simons won and converted a second penalty, his low effort squirming under Staněk via the post to complete a comfortable evening for Thomas Frank’s side.

For Kudus, the goal was a personal milestone. It was his first in the Champions League since September 2022, when he scored a spectacular volley for Ajax against Rangers, and his fifth overall in the competition.

Since arriving from West Ham in the summer for £55 million, the 25-year-old has added dynamism and directness to Tottenham’s attack, and his recent upturn in form has coincided with a sharper, more cohesive Spurs side.

Tottenham now turn their attention to a home Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest this weekend, while their final two Champions League group games, against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, will decide whether they finish in the coveted top eight.
