The aggrieved residents of Kpone Katamanso took to the streets this morning in a demonstration demanding the completion of road construction that began in 2022 and remains unfinished in their constituency.
The project aims to enhance regional integration and support the government’s poverty reduction and economic development goals by reducing travel time and vehicle operating costs. It includes the installation of drainage systems, pedestrian facilities such as bridges, and high mast lighting.
Phillip Ansah, the project’s Resident Engineer, revealed these details during a visit by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, who inspected the ongoing work.
First Sky Ltd, in partnership with BHM International (UK) Ltd, is responsible for the earthworks, road pavement, and concrete works. The project, which started in June 2022 as per the revised schedule, is scheduled for completion by December 2023.
According to our correspondent Augustine Ahiabor in Tema, residents protested this morning urging the contractor to return to the site and finish the project that began four years ago.
Residents of Kpone Katamanso are grappling with severe challenges such as heavy traffic congestion and air pollution from unpaved roads that have been neglected for years.
