Kofi Twumasi late equalizer saved Atlanta United 2 from game lost.
Ghana midfielder Kofi Twumasi scored a late equalizer for Atlanta United 2 in their 3-3 draw against Inter Miami II in the Major League Soccer Next Pro.
The 27-year-old’s equalizer ensured his side went on to win 5-3 on penalties on Sunday.
Lawson Sunderland gave Inter Miami II the lead after only four minutes into the game before Tyler Hall added a second for the visitors in the 36th minute.
Noah Cobb pulled one back for Atlanta United 2 in the 43rd minute but Lawson Sunderland again scored a minute later to end the first half 3-1 in favour of Inter Miami II.
Nine minutes after the hour mark, Nick Firmino dragged the home team to within one goal of the visitors.
With nine minutes to the end of the game, Ghana’s Kofi Twumasi popped up with the equalizer to send the game to penalty shoot outs.
Atlanta United 2 eventually triumphed 5-2 in the MLS Next Pro round one game.
