King Paluta Challenges TGMA Board Over “Makoma” Exclusion, Seeks Explanation

Ghanaian musician King Paluta has formally petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, seeking an explanation for the exclusion of his hit song Makoma from all the categories he submitted for consideration.

The rapper had nominated the song for Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year, yet it failed to secure a single nomination.

Expressing his disappointment in a statement shared on Facebook on March 18, King Paluta questioned the decision, especially given Makoma’s massive popularity and reception among fans.

He called on the TGMA board to justify what he described as an “unpopular decision.”

“We humbly write to your honorable board to demand an explanation regarding the snub of Makoma by King Paluta—a song we duly submitted and believe to be Ghana’s most popular release within the year under review, generating unparalleled excitement among music lovers,” the petition stated.

His team further emphasized their trust in the TGMA board’s competence but insisted on receiving a “convincing reason” for the omission.
