Karela United axe assistant coach Abubakari Damba ahead of FA Cup game against TF Exponential

Karela United have announced that they have parted ways with assistant coach Abubakari Damba on mutual grounds following unimpressive performance this season.

Abubakar Damba was initially charged to handle the club on the interim until a substantive head coach is appointed after the departure of Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko last February, 2024 under similar circumstances.

Abukari Damba was reinstated to the deputy role when Jimmy Corblah was appointed in July, 2024 but both them have found themselves fired out of job just after six months.

“After careful consideration, Karela United has decided to mutually terminate the contract of assistant coach, Abubakari Damba. We are grateful for his service and commitment to the team, but feel that a change is necessary to achieve our goals” We wish coach Damba the best !!”- Club statement.

The decision follows a horror campaign as the Aiyinase based club are in the Ghana Premier League’s relegation zone after 16 games winning just three out of it.

Ahead of the second round of the season the club’s top hierarchy is making changes to the technical team and reinforcing the playing body as defender Bismark Owusu has been signed. Karela United complete the signing of center back Osei Owusu Bismark from Tema Chase FC.

Karela will face TF Exponential in the MTN FA Cup round of 32 game on Sunday before treking to Nsoatreman FC for the premier league match day 17 seven days later.
