Just in: Dame, Jakpa face to face showdown begins as AG takes over cross-examination

Attorney General, (AG), Godfred Yeboah Dame has begun a face-to-face encounter with third accused Richard Jakpa as Godfred Dame takes over the Prosecution cross examination from his Deputy, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah.

This is the first time the Attorney General Godfred Dame is confronting Mr Jakpa since the businessman made allegations against him on May 23.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal sitting as an additional High Court judge, had on June 6, 2024 during the ruling on four applications including an application for a mistrial advised the AG that it would be prudent if he personally does not involve himself in the prosecution of this case.

Even though he had been attending Court sessions since Jakpa’s cross examination begun by the Prosecution, he had been watching the Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa do the cross examination.

But, on Thursday, June 27, 2024 sitting, in the absence of the DPP, the Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah started the cross-examination of Mr Jakpa.

He, subsequently, handed over to the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame.

According to reports, the focus of Attorney General’s encounter with Jakpa so far relates to Mr Jakpa’s businesses.
