Ghanaian born British professional boxer Joshua Buatsi kept his unbeaten record intact when he defeated Craig Richards via a unanimous decision in their WBA light heavyweight title eliminator at London 02 Arena on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
Joshua Buatsi dominated the entire 12 rounds with accurate landed punches, excellent defence and ring generalship. His performance was remarkable and justifiable when the three judges scored the bout 116- 112,115-113,115-113.
Buatsi was a British bronze medalist in the light heavyweight division at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro and 2019 became the British national light heavyweight champion.
With Craig Richards(17-3-1-10kos) now out of the way, Joshua Buatsi (16-0-0-13kos)made his intentions clear that he’s ready for a world title shot against the WBA champion Dmitry Bivol who defeated Canelo Alvarez a couple of weeks ago.
“I want the world title short next” Buatsi categorically stated in his post-fight interview.
It is unclear and unknown what Bivol is up to or going to do next after upsetting Canelo on May 7, 2022. Alvarez has a rematch clause but he hasn’t declared what he’ll do next.
I believe Buatsi is more than ready for a world title shot regardless of any opponent because he has proved his mettle and ability to become a world champion in the light heavyweight division.
He’s one boxer who has been very consistent and disciplined right from the amateur level to the professional level regarding his weight and ring craftsmanship.
