Jordan Darko-Opoku : I psyched myself up before joining kotoko
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has claimed that, he needed to psych himself up before joining Asante Kotoko during his first stint.
Jordan joined Asante Kotoko from Fetteh Feyenoord having excelled with the latter in his early years of his football career.
The former Ghana international revealed that, had it not been how he prepared himself psychologically, he would have failed to make any meaningful impact at Kotoko.
” Kotoko is bigger than feyenoord so i needed to psych myself up before i moved there. The pressure, the fanbase and the stadium are all bigger than what i was used to at Fetteh so it wasn’t easy making such a giant step in my career “
Having played with lots of excellent players in his professional career, the ex Berekum Chelsea midfielder is of the view that, his teammates at Kotoko was one of the best and wasn’t easy breaking into the squad.
” During that period, Kotoko had great players such as Nana Arhin Duah, Godfred Yeboah, Daniel Nii Adjei, Francis Akwaful, Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor and Stephen Oduro in the team. The names alone are frightening and so you needed more training and exceptional skills to make it into the team “
Jordan Opoku started his playing career with Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy and has since played for clubs in Netherland, Ukraine and UAE.
Jordan is also a prominent name in Kumasi Asante Kotoko having featured for the Porcupine Warriors on three different occasions with three league titles to his name.
Jordan Opoku who is currently clubless made this disclosure on Ahotor FM sports show with Daakyehene Kwabena Amoabeng.
