Joining Manchester United was not “meant” to be — Sergio Ramos revealed

Ex Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has revealed the reason behind turning down a big money move to Manchester United in 2015.

The Real Madrid icon returned to his boyhood club Sevilla in a free transfer after the end of his PSG deal.

The Spaniard spoke about the chance he had to join United eight years ago while at Real Madrid.

“I stayed where I should have stayed, Real Madrid, but was indeed close to playing for United.That was not meant to be. I was glad to stay in Madrid and now I’m glad to be in Sevilla.”

Ramos signed a one-year deal with the Andalusian club in the summer and has featured in seven appearances thus far this campaign across all competitions.
