John Mulaney is opening up about his intimate wedding with Olivia Munn.
The couple tied the knot over the Fourth of July weekend last summer at a friend’s home in New York. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, Mulaney shared some amusing moments from the ceremony.
One of the biggest surprises? The officiant was Sam Waterston, Munn’s former The Newsroom co-star. According to Mulaney, Waterston had once casually told Munn, “If you ever get married, I’ll perform the ceremony.” When Kimmel asked why he had made that offer, Mulaney responded, “I think it was chit-chat… but you take people up on what they offer.”
The couple, who share two children—3-year-old Malcolm and baby daughter Méi, born last September—also had an unintentional scene-stealer at their wedding.
Mulaney recounted how their son Malcolm made a bold announcement mid-ceremony.
“He actually went to the bathroom in his diaper during it and announced it mid-vows,” Mulaney laughed. “Yeah, a very sweaty little two-year-old in a tuxedo just went, ‘I’m pooping.’”
Kimmel pointed out that Malcolm didn’t say it before or after the act, to which Mulaney replied, “It’s really an in-the-moment kind of declaration.”
