Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency, has confidently pledged a decisive victory for John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 elections within his constituency.
He made this bold promise after the visit of NDC’s running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the Tema municipality on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
Expressing his gratitude for the visit, Hon. Odamtten stated that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s presence has reinvigorated their efforts.
“We are grateful for the opportunity given to us with the visit of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. It has brought us extra fire to work hard and secure all three parliamentary seats in Tema,” he shared in an interview with Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM‘s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem‘.
Hon. Odamtten emphasized that the NDC’s policies, particularly those targeting the agricultural sector and coastal communities, have resonated deeply with the people, especially the fishermen.
“John Mahama will secure a resounding victory in Tema East. When you look at the coastal constituencies, the NDC is dominating, thanks to John Mahama’s plans and policies, particularly those affecting us in agriculture,” he added.
He also praised the NDC leadership for the strategic decision to have Prof. Opoku-Agyemang tour the Tema municipality, describing it as a smart move that has strengthened their position in the region.
“Tema East is a key area, especially with its connection to the fishing harbor. The NDC’s visit to the constituency was a smart move, and we are very grateful for it,” Hon. Odamtten remarked.
When asked about his prospects in the 2024 elections, Hon. Odamtten confidently stated that he doesn’t see the NPP’s candidate as a real competitor, pointing out the failures of the current Tema mayor.
“I don’t see myself in competition with the NPP Tema East Parliamentary Candidate because he’s not there yet. As the current mayor, he has failed abysmally,” he asserted.
He further contrasted his tenure as mayor, which he claims brought development to Tema, with the lackluster performance of the current leadership.
