John Mahama Vows to Probe PDS Scandal – (AUDIO)

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to thoroughly investigate the Power Distribution Services (PDS) scandal if elected as President in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a crowd in Kunkurantumi during his Eastern Regional tour, Mr. Mahama emphasized the need for accountability in the management of state resources.

He alleged that the PDS deal involved significant mismanagement of public funds and vowed to uncover the truth and retrieve any stolen monies.

“I will ensure a full investigation into the PDS scandal,” he stated firmly. “The mismanagement of state funds under this deal cannot be ignored, and those responsible will be held accountable.”

Mr. Mahama did not shy away from directly implicating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a key figure in the controversy.

Turning his attention to the controversial national cathedral project, Mr. Mahama expressed grave concerns about the significant financial resources spent with little to show for it.

He criticized the government for allocating $58 million to the project, which, according to him, has resulted in nothing more than an excavated site.

“This government claimed it was building a church for God without using public funds,” he remarked. “But here we are—$58 million of taxpayers’ money has been spent just to dig a hole, which has now become a breeding ground for frogs.

Do you know what $58 million could have done? It could have transformed the Abuakwa North enclave through meaningful development projects.”

He also accused the NPP of attempting to impose Dr. Bawumia on Ghanaians as a presidential candidate to evade scrutiny and accountability for their governance failures.

Mr. Mahama further criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo for his handling of corruption within his administration.

He accused the President of shielding his appointees from investigation, earning the unflattering nickname of “Clearing Agent” for his consistent exoneration of officials accused of corrupt practices.

“This government’s refusal to hold its officials accountable is a disservice to the people of Ghana,” Mr. Mahama lamented. “Leadership requires integrity and transparency, and that is what I promise to restore when I am elected.”

His remarks were met with cheers and chants of support from the crowd, as he urged Ghanaians to vote for change and demand accountability at all levels of governance.
