John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art film village if elected, aiming to revitalize Ghana’s creative arts industry.
Speaking at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Mr. Mahama highlighted that this proposed film village would serve as the central hub for Ghanaian content production.
Meeting with stakeholders from the creative arts industry, he emphasized the NDC’s commitment to restoring the sector to its former prominence.
“The NDC is committed to making the creative industry a national priority, restoring it to its glory days,” John Mahama stated. “The film village will serve as the heart of production, providing infrastructure that supports every stage of filmmaking.”
John Mahama believes the film village would reduce production costs for local creators, increasing their profit margins and making content creation more financially sustainable.
“By establishing a dedicated production center, we can lower costs, enhance efficiency, and boost income for those in the industry,” he explained.
He further stressed the importance of showcasing local movies on Ghanaian television. “We have immense talent and rich content in Ghana. With a bit of support, our creative industry can thrive, bringing cultural and economic benefits to the country,” he noted.
