John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Ghanaians to prioritize local content on television, emphasizing the value of supporting Ghanaian music, films, and cultural productions.
Addressing members of the Creative Arts Industry at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s (KNUST) Great Hall, Mahama highlighted how a focus on local content could foster national pride and strengthen the creative arts sector.
John Mahama shared a personal story from a recent flight, where he watched a Ghanaian movie featuring popular local actors Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin and Van Vicker.
He emphasized that choosing to watch and listen to Ghanaian productions not only celebrates local talent but also drives economic growth and provides more opportunities for creators.
The former President encouraged all Ghanaians to actively support the nation’s arts by tuning into local music, movies, and shows.
“Our creative industry is a reflection of our culture and heritage,” he noted, adding that a thriving creative industry could be a powerful tool for promoting Ghana on the global stage.
