John Mahama Takes Kyebi by Storm: Urges to “Send the Elephant to the Atiwa Forest”

NDC Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama took his #Mahama4Change2024 campaign to Kyebi, the hometown of President Akufo-Addo, marking a bold stop in his Eastern Regional tour.

On a lightly drizzled afternoon on November 18, 2024, John Mahama arrived in Kyebi to a surprisingly large and enthusiastic crowd, where he highlighted the unfulfilled promises of the NPP government despite the President’s ties to the town.

Addressing the crowd, Mr. Mahama urged Kyebi residents to reflect on the challenges and hardships they’ve experienced over the past eight years, encouraging them to choose wisely in the upcoming election.

Drawing a clear contrast between the two major parties, he characterized the NDC as committed to development and the welfare of the people, while accusing the NPP of prioritizing self-interest over public good.

He called for a change, rallying supporters with a metaphor to “take the elephant back to the bush.”

The high turnout sparked comments from some onlookers, with a few suggesting that despite the NDC’s strong support, the election might already be skewed.

Report
As Ahotor FM’s Emmanuel Romeo Tetteh reported, there appeared to be a divide among Kyebi residents—some eager for change, others loyal to the President’s party.

However, concerns surfaced over comments about alleged election rigging, with some saying, “The crowd may come out for the NDC, but the election is already rigged.” Whether this reflects genuine worry or mere speculation remains unclear.
