John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to transform the iconic Asesewa market into a modern facility if elected.
Speaking during his Eastern Regional tour, Mr. Mahama emphasized that the Asesewa market, one of the oldest in the country, is in dire need of an upgrade to meet the growing demands of its traders and customers.
According to John Mahama, the NDC plans to revamp several historical markets across the country, with a focus on Asesewa and Mankessim, as part of its broader Market Enhancement Programme.
This initiative aims to modernize these markets, making them more accessible and functional for local vendors as well as traders from other regions, such as the North and Ashanti.
“The Asesewa market is a critical economic hub for the people here, and by upgrading it, we are not just improving the lives of those in this community, but contributing to the prosperity of the entire nation,” Mr. Mahama stated.
He added that, under the NDC, markets like Asesewa and Mankessim will be transformed into modern trading centers that will attract business from all corners of the country.
John Mahama expressed confidence that the NDC offers the right solution for improving the country’s economic future.
He cautioned voters to carefully assess their living conditions over the past eight years before making any decisions, as the NPP may try to sway opinions with promises of short-term incentives.
He urged Ghanaians to vote for the NDC, assuring them that his party would continue the developmental progress it started in 2016.
“The NDC is committed to delivering sustainable development, and with your support, we can carry on this important work for the benefit of all,” he concluded.
