NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has criticized Vice President and NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that he cannot distance himself from the economic “mess” created by the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to Mahama, the vice president holds a crucial role in governance and, as such, shares responsibility for the current economic hardships facing Ghanaians.
Mahama reminded Ghanaians that while in opposition, Dr. Bawumia often spoke about the struggles people faced under the NDC administration.
However, he argued that the situation has worsened significantly under the NPP, with Ghanaians enduring more severe economic challenges today than during his tenure as president.
Speaking during a visit to the Nayiri’s Palace as part of his two-day campaign tour of the North East Region, Mahama underscored the growing frustration and suffering among citizens.
He highlighted rising inflation, unemployment, and the depreciating cedi as symptoms of the economic mismanagement under the current government, and emphasized the need for accountability from leaders like Dr. Bawumia, who played a key role in shaping the administration’s economic policies.
Mahama concluded by urging Ghanaians to remember the NPP’s promises that have gone unfulfilled and consider the NDC as a viable alternative to rescue the country from its current economic woes.
He also promised to complete the abandoned projects he started and ones started by this administration
