John Dumelo Says Farming Is His “Real Bank” as He Inspires Youth to Embrace Agriculture

Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo is once again inspiring the youth, not with a movie role this time, but with his unwavering passion for agriculture. In a heartfelt message, the celebrated actor shared his farming journey — a path he describes as both challenging and life-changing.

Dumelo revealed that he raises snails, cattle, goats, pigs, and grasscutters, and cultivates maize on large farmlands. Some of the harvest goes to the market, while the rest supports his growing livestock. To him, farming is not just a business — it is a strategic lifestyle.

“Farming is truly a good business. It has tough moments, but the results are always worth it.” “The land has become my reliable bank — whatever I put in, it multiplies.”

According to him, the secret to agricultural success is smart planning and timing, not just sweating from dawn till dusk. He believes many young people overlook the potential in agriculture because they expect quick money, but the real treasure lies in patience and consistency.

Dumelo shared that his decision to go into farming was driven by two things:

1. Entertainment alone could not sustain him financially

2. His genuine love for agriculture and desire to help reduce hunger in his community.

From yams to ginger, pepper to cereals, he has built a diversified farming system that not only feeds his animals but also contributes to the local food supply.

He encouraged young people to give farming a chance, describing it as a path to independence, stability, and community impact.

“One farm, one seed, one harvest at a time — that’s how we build stronger communities.”
Though many fans would love to see him fully back on the screen,

Dumelo says any return to acting would be purely for passion — because agriculture has become his true powerhouse.
