Jerome Opoku Exudes Confidence in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Qualification Bid

Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku has emphatically expressed his confidence in Ghana’s chances of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Following their resounding victory over Madagascar, Ghana sits atop Group I with 15 points, three points clear of second-placed Comoros with four games remaining.

Opoku’s conviction in the team’s ability to qualify is unwavering, as he boldly stated, “I am 200% confident of qualifying. That’s the aim and dream.” He acknowledges that the task is far from over, but remains resolute in the team’s determination to succeed.

“We know it’s not job done yet, and it won’t be easy, but we will fight hard till the end to ensure that we secure the necessary and needed points to be first in the group and qualify for the World Cup.”

The Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has served as a catalyst for their determination to succeed in the World Cup campaign.

Opoku noted, “This time, we had a different and much bigger motivation because the team failed to qualify for the AFCON.

” He emphasized the team’s resolve to make amends and bring joy to the nation by qualifying for the World Cup.

“We needed to put that behind us, move on, and make it up to the whole country by winning games and qualifying for the World Cup.”

With four games remaining in the qualifying campaign, Ghana will need to maintain their momentum and secure crucial points to ensure their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Opoku’s confidence and the team’s collective determination will be crucial in driving them toward their goal.
