Jerome Boateng Cleared of Assault Allegations as Munich Prosecutors Drop Case Due to Lack of Evidence
After a lengthy investigation spanning over five years, the Munich Public Prosecutor’s office has dropped the assault case against former German international Jerome Boateng.
The allegations stemmed from claims made by his ex-girlfriend, Kasia Lenhardt, in 2019.
The initial investigation yielded insufficient evidence, but the case was reopened in 2021 following Lenhardt’s tragic suicide.
An autopsy raised suspicions about severe injuries, but no concrete evidence was found to support the claims. A key witness’s failure to appear for questioning and subsequent disappearance led to the case’s closure.
Citing the legal principle “in dubio pro reo” (when in doubt, for the defendant), the prosecution dismissed all charges against Jerome Boateng, including assault, coercion, and defamation.
Jerome Boateng took to Instagram to express his relief and gratitude, stating that all his statements were correct, and the allegations against him were false.
He thanked those who stood by him despite the heavy prejudice, saying, “Now my family and I can finally look to the future with positivity. Never give up.”
